Crashing Waves and Open Space

3 Nov

We recently spent the afternoon at Avila Beach near San Luis Obispo, CA. The beach is absolutely beautiful with perfect, powdery sand. It was the first time in a LONG time that I felt FREE with my hoop. So much open space!!

I’ve been hooping inside the RV a lot…or on my little piece of astro turf that Matt bought for meΒ  for me at Home Depot πŸ™‚ Both are such small spaces that I can’t always find my flow very well. I loved hearing the crashing of the waves as I hooped and hooped and hooped. I will definitely be going back!

Hooping In Small Spaces

12 Aug

We live in a very small space…and sometimes we can’t get outside to hoop due to rain or heat. So we hoop inside! The photo above is in our main living area in the RV…the girls are playing with my poi hoops, but I am also able to waist and shoulder hoop with up to a 38 inch hoop.

Sometimes after everyone falls asleep at night, I hoop hoop hoop in my little space until I “work it all out” πŸ™‚ I love the release it provides after a long day. It’s even more fun to use my LED hoop inside in the dark…my own personal light show.

I do miss having a large indoor private space to hoop in whenever I want. I got spoiled at my parents house this summer with their large basement and mirrors! But I will take my hoop time however I can get it now (even if it means I am the spectacle of the RV park).

Where do YOU hoop when you can’t hoop outside?

Hoop Storage Solutions

13 Jul

Hoops are big…and can be quite awkward to carry/transport/store. Here is one storage solution that we used while traveling in our Minnie Winnie. We currently store them inside our truck topper…strapped to the roof. When we are settled somewhere, they usually live under the RV in a big pile or tucked in one of the storage bays underneath.

I will occasionally hang them over our mirrors like my friend Tracy. I like to keep them in sight, because I am much more likely to just grab it and hoop when I have a few minutes. If they are difficult to reach or out of sight, I just forget to get them down!

And this brings me to the topic of travel hoops…because the travel hoops “fold” down! I would love to be able to just fold down my hoop and take it with me easily on my bike or in my bag. I have yet to make a true infinity hoop with 2 connectors, but I’ve been told it’s super easy. Has anyone tried BodyHoop’s or Hoopnotica’s travel hoops? I would love to hear some reviews. (As a side note…I am planning on doing a post in the future that is dedicated to the topic of traveling with hoops (in airplanes and such).

So…my question for you is:

Where do you store your hoops?

Post links to photos!! πŸ™‚ You know I love photos.
