Having some fun on a Friday evening. ๐Ÿ™‚ With 3 kiddos, I haven’t been making a lot of videos, but have been inspired by the Hoop 30 Facebook group! So much to love over there. It’s open to new members now, but still a private group. Message me if you want to join!

Hoop Jam

A friend of mine sent me this video and I loved it so much I wanted to share it with you too! It’s a short little documentary about Stefanie Moser’s experience with the hoop. Sweet & inspirational.

Be Inspired

22 May

Lately I’ve been watching more hoop videos to inspire my hoopy self back into a daily practice. This one is awesome. There is just something magical about a festival setting…and a girl with dreads. Probably also explains why this older clip of Spiral is one of my all time faves as well. I could watch it over and over! ๐Ÿ™‚

What are you watching/doing right now that is inspiring you in your own practice?
New music? Videos? New moves? Share!

Philo Tears It Up!

30 Oct

If you’re a hooper, it’s almost certain that you spend time on the fabulous website that is Hooping.org. All of the fabulousness happens because of the hard work of one man…Mr. Philo Hagen. Don’t miss this great interview if you want to know more about the beginnings of the website and how this hooping community began.

Baxter and Philo // 2010

I had the chance to chit chat with him a bit at Hoopcamp and I can tell you…he’s wonderful. Warm and funny…and loved by all. And what’s more? He can TEAR IT UP with a hoop too. He took a break from his emcee duties at the Hooper’s Showcase to entertain us with his sweet moves (his very FIRST time performing on the Hoopcamp stage!). I can’t watch this without having a perma-smile on my face!

Philo…I appreciate all you do within our hooping community. THANK YOU!!

Six Month Hoopiversary

28 Oct

Monday of this week was my SIX month “hoopiversary”! If you would have told me 6 months ago that I would soon be hooping daily, reversing our entire route to trek to California for something called “Hoopcamp”, and that I would start yet another blog about this addictive circular toy….I would tell you that you were crazy ๐Ÿ™‚ But it’s all true!

Six months in the hoop has given me JOY.
It’s brought the most amazing people into my life.
It’s become more than just a hobby…it’s a way of life!

There wasn’t really a nice space to film at the RV park we’re currently staying at…so we drove down the road a bit and pulled off to the side when we saw a pretty mountain. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was a bit distracted with Lucy yelling at me from the car, Bella spinning her hoop offย  on the side, and men in large trucks yelling “YEAH!! Keep doin’ that!!” out their window as they drove by. Good times.

It’s not perfect. It’s not a performance. But it’s me hooping…put to a song in honor of one of Bella’s favorite movies…High School Musical. Oh yes. Yes I did.

Brecken // Hoopcamp 2010

26 Oct

Brecken performed at Hoopcamp in a super casual “dinner theater” setting…just doin’ her thing. As you can see (and hear) in the video, she is well-loved within the hoop community. From what I can tell, everyone adores her.ย  She is humble, approachable, and has a hoop style that is completely unique.

We can all try to emulate her…but in the end, there is only ONE Brecken!! ๐Ÿ™‚ And I could watch her all.day.long.

Heart Hooping

Christabel Zamor, HoopGirl founder, shot this commercial in South Africa with Heart FM, a radio station based in London, in support of their “feel good” ad campaign.

Isn’t it great!?
