Your blog is amazing! It’s really inspired me to get better at hooping! Thank you so much and keep the posts coming!
xoxo
Such a different style from your last post. Love it! And, you look great so soon after bambino tres!
Fab video, Sara – I started hooping last month, and whenever I watch people like you hoop it just makes me wanna get out there and practice again! I’m dreading the colder months here when I won’t be able to practice much – how long did it take you to be able to put a routine together like this?
Thank you so much! I’m glad I can help motivate you!! Honestly, this is how this night went down:
Me: “Matt! Quick watch the girls so I can run out and hoop for 5 minutes!!”
Matt: “Ok, but hurry because I’m hungry.”
That’s about how long it took. Ha. I don’t put together routines at all, just go with the music and flow and whatever comes to mind. That part gets easier with time and as you get comfortable with transitions. Much love!! xo
I wish I was at that stage! Do you know how long you’d hooped for when you got comfortable with enough moves to string together? I’ve probably only had around 10 practice sessions, and I’m teaching myself to transition from waist to neck at the moment – do you think I’d be able to hoop a routine by the end of the year? (Bearing in mind the British weather-fail!) x
petthespacefishies – practice, practice, practice is the key! Every time you hoop make a point of practising dancing with the hoop. I never learn a new move in isolation, I always learn the move then work on how that move can fit around other moves. This is when you can get really creative with hoopdancing. This is my experience, any way.
I would love to learn how to hoop dance. Do you have suggestions of where to start for a very beginning beginner. ; ) Do I buy a dollar store hoop or do I need something special? I don’t even know how to keep the hoop up over my waist yet, LOL, but I’d love to learn. I’m craving more creative expression and freedom in my life. Thanks! ; ) Becky
I absolutely have suggestions! You need an adult sized hoop…not a small dollar store hoop (made for kids).
I would highly recommend going to http://www.superhooper.org and checking out their gorgeous hoops. Lara Eastburn is a fellow mama and she knows her stuff. Call her too…for sizing help (number on the site). Mention that Sara at The Happy Hoop sent you and she’ll upgrade your shipping.

Thank you for the help! I’m excited. : ) I think my 9 and 10-year old daughters are going to love doing this with me. We’re on a pretty tight budget right now so I think I’ll try making my first hoop. Have a great day. ~ Becky
Becky…absolutely make your own! Especially if you want more than one. http://www.jasonunbound.com/hoops.html
Have fun!! And let me know if you need any help! janssenfamily@gmail.com
Thank you, Sara! Guess what I got for Christmas? : ) I’m having so much fun and have the bruises to prove it. Happy New Year.
That was amazing. I have never seen anything like that. I have been blog stalking you since I saw a picture of you and your baby via Pinterest. We have lots of similar interests and now I want to learn how to do this!
Oh, and you are adorable doing it as well.

Hi Sara! My name is Katrina and I just recently discovered this blog! I am a relatively new hooper (just a few months) and you’ve inspired me to create a blog of my own! Thank you for being awesome and keep up what you’re doing! You’re an inspiration to hoopers everywhere. Love and light! xo
