Bozeman Hoopers

28 Aug

The Bozeman Hoopers meet up 4 blocks from our campsite in Bozeman…so you can imagine how excited I get on Friday mornings! We’ve been riding our bikes down there the past couple of weeks…and we’ll be here for one more session before we head West.

I’ve learned so much from these ladies! It’s so fun to hoop with different people everywhere we go because everyone has such different styles and each is interested in different movements.  I try to be very intentional about seeking out hoopers in the cities we visit for this reason. The Bozeman group is especially delightful because everyone is super new to hooping (just this summer)…so there is a different energy there than there is with a group that has been hooping for a long time. Love it. More photos here.

Questions of the day: Who do you hoop with? Do you have a hoop group that you meet up with? If it appears that you are the only hooper in your area…have you taken steps to start a group?

I looked everywhere it seemed for a group near me, and couldn’t find one. So I started my own group! Southern Maryland Hoopers.
Unfortunately no one showed to the last meetup, but I have high hopes for our September meetup! Our instructor travels quite a ways to come down to us, so we only meet once a month.

For the last month or so I have been going to Hot Mamas Cafe for Sunday’s Hoop Church. 😀 Then we head out to C.U@Circus for a couple hours in the afternoon. I love Austin.

Can’t wait ’til you hit Missoula! I started a new group that jams on Sunday afternoons at 1 PM behind Russell School. Email me if you’re interested in coming to meet the city’s small hooping contingent! 🙂

Betherann…thanks for the invite! I don’t think we will be up there until late on Sunday or maybe Monday. I’ll get in touch with you! Add me on Twitter so I can DM you (@livelightly).

I hoop at home, with my daughter. I’ve hooped on the beach a couple times but that’s not so easy…especially for a beginner. I found a hoop group an hour away in Honolulu but it’s mostly a fire jam so they only get together at night, so I never went. Now that we’re leaving the island and hitting the road again I’m hoping to finally hoop with a group!! and outside in the grass where I can actually move! whoop whoop

for now I’m just hooping in the backyard with my kids – we also bring them camping with us. I would LOVE to find a group – maybe I’ll start one 🙂 There is one younger girl in town who hoops and does little girl parties – I need to hook up with her and get something going. It would be so nice to share the journey with others. Thank goodness for my son – he’s turning 6 in September – and he’s my hooping buddy. We have watched many videos on your site and then go out back and try to do some of the moves. He’s hooping with 2 at a time. It’s awesome to watch him. I need to post a video of him on my blog – it’s just precious to see him. Love reading your blogs 🙂
