Electro Circus

16 Jul

I love Austin, Texas…but after watching this video, I love it even more! πŸ™‚ I learned how to “hoop for real” in Austin…so it will always have a special place in my heart. Although, when we were there this spring, I had barely tapped into the hooping community there.

This video is from an event called Electro Circus….acroyoga, poi, hooping, and much more! It appears that they meet every Sunday evening in Zilker Park…check out their Facebook page for more info, photos, and videos. It makes me a little crazy to know this was happening while we were there and I didn’t know about it…but I will be there next spring! Anyone want to join me? πŸ™‚

Sweet! I don’t think I could sport hooping in a bikini πŸ™‚ What fun. Every city should have one of these.

No doubt…I definitely admire their confidence though!! Hooping is actually MUCH easier on bare skin πŸ™‚

Sara – we’ve just started hooping inspired by you! The kids and I are having soooo much fun doing this. We can hardly wait to get better and learn some tricks. Would love to see events like this in New Zealand but it seems pretty new down here. Of course poi have been here for a loooooong time;-)

That is amazing. I am often in Dallas visiting my sister. I think I may need to make more trips to Austin.

Nice! I wish I would have gone now. I was at Hot Mama’s that day with the Austin Hoopers group but I had left my kids with a friend and had to go pick them up and run some errands.

I’ll definitely go with you when you’re here next! πŸ˜€

I went yesterday! πŸ˜€ Wasn’t the electro circus but there was drummers. The kidlets and I had so much fun and it’s become our permanent Sunday plans. Hoop Church + C.U.@Circus = a very fabulous day.

I’m kind of disturbed. Hooping is fun and all, but sometimes, Sara, you seem so immersed in the world that you really blend in which is NOT the goal of a child of God. It’s as if hooping, rv-ing, and natural living, hippie culture, etc. are your idols. I would not even feel comfortable showing this video to my young daughters.

Jen…thanks so much for your thoughts. Of course, all is not as it “seems” when you’re looking at someone’s life through a screen. These things you mention are just part of my very full life and they are things that I enjoy, but they are certainly not my idols.

The video definitely shows some skin…but the hooping and acrobatics are certainly worth showcasing. I would probably not show it to Bella either, but I knew my friends would enjoy watching their amazing skills.

    Much love…
    Sara

Sara, perhaps. I understand that what we read on your blogs is only a glimpse into your life. It’s just that the majority of these glimpses focus on the same things the world would focus on, and are not very set apart. I also assume that many of your readers are not followers of Christ. But I know you are. So I would expect to find a drastically different approach, and kind of hope for that. It’s a wonderful discovery to find a blog that can highlight some of the freer things in life but not let it take center stage, however it’s very difficult to find. Some things just need to be left out, no matter how “cool” they are by the world’s standards, in an effort to honor Christ and not the masses.
